How to use Teamwork Project Manager the poor mans way
As mentioned in 37 Signals products are no longer free: Basecamp, Highrise, Backpack, and Campfire, I was beginning to look around for web based project management software. Per the comments section, Daniel from Teamwork Project Manager mentioned his product and how it offered “totally free, no catches account allowing you to manage 2 projects with all features enabled”. So I immediately signed up and began messing with it. I am thoroughly impressed. Not only is the website well designed, but the user interface and user flow is rich. They introduce a lot of AJAX to keep you from refreshing pages and make the experience very smooth.
I titled this post “How to use Teamwork Project Manager the poor mans way” because a lot of people are in the same boat as me, which is needing good software for various reasons, but on the cheap or free. I decided to use Teamwork PM to the best of my ability under the free version and made a video to explain how I use it and why. Typically, you would pay a monthly fee so each “project” you have could live in its own container. However, since the free version only supports 2 projects, I had to get creative. Teamwork has a nice and clean interface.
I have to say that the sheer amount of online collaboration/PM tools is now overwhelming. There will probably be a time when the market is flooded with such tools, and prices will definitely go down when the competition heats up.
